Is Limewire better than Vuze or Bittorrent?

A
Answer by Alex Urbach

Limewire application has been discontinued/blocked due to a court order. It's an ongoing investigation. This means you will need to use other applications and when it comes to torrent, I believe both applications are good enough to download torrent files. Vuze might offer additional features, but the base is the same as Bittorrent.

A NSIS error is related to the corruption of the setup package. Most likely you have downloaded a corrupted file. This can be easily fixed by downloading a new package from the official website. Make sure to disable any download accelerators. However, nowadays LimeWire is under court order and the whole service is stopped until further notice.

LimeWire features its on uninstaller accessible from its installation directory (C:\Program Files\LimeWire) or from the Control Panel under Add & Remove programs. If you can't uninstall it using these ways, I recommend you to try using Revo Uninstaller. Even if it can't uninstall the application normally, it will force it to uninstall by wiping out all traces of its presence from the system.

When you start the uninstall procedure, make sure to select the advanced one so that the application scans entire computer for file leftovers.

My LimeWire 5 is not able to connect to Internet. I have tried without success. Can you help?

Answer by Pete Clapp

In order to fix the connection issue, go to Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Firewall > Allow a program through Windows Firewall and check the box next to LimeWire. If you can't find the software in the Allowed programs and features window, press the Allow another program button, navigate to the installation directory, select the executable file and press Add.

After that, from the Advanced Settings select Inbound Rules > New Rule. Check the Port box, click Next, select All local Ports and follow the self-explained steps. Also, make sure that your security program doesn't block the connection.

If the problem is not solved, try uninstalling the application and then installing it again. If you still have issues, I suggest you use a similar program from Software Informer database.

I can't go to a website while downloading with LimeWire. Can you help?

P
Answer by Pete Clapp

If you're not able to navigate to a website, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the program, but unfortunately, you can't use the LimeWire application anymore because it has been discontinued and it is no longer supported. Its developer is under a court order dated October 26, 2010. Check the official web page for further details.

Open the application, go to Tools tab and select Options. Press the System Tray button and check a Shutdown Behavior option. You can select to shutdown the program immediately after you press the X icon, to shutdown it after the transfer process is finished or to run it in the background. Click Apply and then OK.

Can't send the music from MiniNova to uTorrent, because it goes from MiniNova to Limewire.

J
Answer by Julia Bocchetta

If you're trying to play music files with uTorrent, then I must say it's a bad idea. uTorrent is just a torrent downloader. If you want to open music files, simply install an audio player. You can find one on the database of the Software Informer website. Browse the search result list and pick one suitable to you. Install it and it should be your default audio player.

It all depends on the type of CD you want to create. You can use Ashampoo Burning Studio to create a CD. Download the application from its official website and install it. Insert a blank CD into the CD/DVD RW drive and start the application. Click on:

  • Data CD - to add files in MP3 form (~200 MP3 files will be stored)
  • Audio CD - to add files as MP3 that will be converted as tracks (~13-14 tracks per CD)

For:

  • Data CD > use a speed range from 4x up to 20-30X
  • Audio CD > use a speed range from 2x up to 8x
