LimeWire is a multi-language open-source P2P program that has been designed to help us share a wide range of materials such as audio, video, images, programs, documents, and other files, with users all over the world. LimeWire has been recently updated and now it features a smarter colorful interface.
From the program interface, we can search for a keyword, refine our search, or use the advanced search options, chat with our friends, view their status, and select our status (available/do not disturb). This application also provides the possibility of sign in our Gmail, Jabber, or Live Journal account and share a specified file with our friends. It is also possible to browse files from our friends. This feature is an excellent one, as it makes it possible to share big files that do not fit in an e-mail message.
In order to avoid dangerous file sharing, we must select one by one the files we want to share with other users. LimeWire features a secure sharing file method. There is another (shareware) version, named LimeWire Pro, with much more advanced and powerful features. LimeWire open source code makes it possible to improveme the program further. This program runs under Windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris platforms. |
